Seeking Joy?! Simply follow your child!

Off late on many occasions, I have been asking myself where those simple pleasures have disappeared? May be the gravity of the heavy downturn of economy or your never ending wish list to do many things in little time at office... i could feel i am drifting away from very simple things which used o keep me in the company of happiness and simple pleasures of joy. Or may be i started to think that there is no room for me to stretch and grow in the good feelings that I used to experience.

All it took was few minutes, when i got to see the glitter in my children eyes when it started raining heavily....They know they are going to get some good time to play with me now and a straight question from Levin..Appa!! its raining , can we play something!? It was simply an uncomplicated innocent mind looking for opportunities of immense pleasure and joy with some time with Dad! The next 3 hours we were having terrific fun and pleasure of being a dad as well as friend to my little champs!

See how i am cutting myself from the amazing possibilities!? I have been encouraged and cherished immensely in my childhood whenever my Dad gave me some special time in spite of his grueling time schedule on the 10th Satellite project his 20 member team were working on for India in the island of Kavaratti, Lakshadweep. I used to feel great and charged up and a source of inspiration to me at that time when he allows me to see how I move into those wonderful feelings of togetherness, a sense of belongingness as well as the bounty of love in a father son relationship.

Now my son and daughter are reminding me those past which i probably chose to ignore...and they are reminding me very well how to commit ourselves to being a pleasure pioneer exploring new territories of pleasure, paving the way for everyone at home joyously follow!

We all have a definite purpose in our lives, a key part of which is living a life of joy and abundance. It’s also about doing what we love to do and fulfilling our responsibilities as a responsible parent too. As i start a new week today, I want to promise myself once again...Never get lost in your world in search of happiness when you have to live and define it in everyday. And to do that we have to be more honest and kind and needs a bit of deviation from the focus on our external world. Now I call that a change from within.

Simply follow your child!

The little things!

Sure, the big things can bring big pleasure, but there are so many more little things in our lives. Savor them when they come up. It’s a way of practicing being present. I love stopping myself for a while with a fresh breath, and noticing what I’m doing right now, and what’s around me. And I love taking a bit of time to enjoy it and realize to be present. Clock is ticking extremely quicker with too many things to accomplish. Before you and I know about it, you see our lives have passed us by. Our kids are grown and my youth is gone. I don’t want to let my life slip by — I want to enjoy it while it’s here. Instead of dwelling in the past or thinking about the future, I am practicing being in the here and now!

Happiness!

Have you ever looked into the eyes of your child and see the unconditional love that lives deep within them for you?!?......Thats the true love, when you feel that, you know you are a good parent and for a parent true love never fails. It sounds strange, but I am for encouraging kids to be "happy" always, a good thing, i think because the happier ones are more productive as well as creative, less confrontational and they have a sense of responsibility too.

Levin's 3rd B'day

It started with lot of chaos on an unusually busy day but later proved otherwise, when I look back how we planned and went about celebrating Levin’s birthday . He managed to convince me to include all his elderly neighborhood friends along with 10 other friends in and around our house whom he spent his evenings playing with. He handled them with ease and made them absolutely comfortable and even made some amendments by allowing them to proudly display his collection of books and toys.

He amazed us with an unusual calmness and sharing attitude which were always a concern for us as parents. We were feeling proud when he was accepting the gifts with a grace and thank you smile and passing on to his Uncle with patience for keeping them safe. Our daughter Liana too made sure her presence felt with her chirpy sound and charming smiles without least of any reservations in the presence of new faces around.

It was a great evening with all our family members presence and made us proud of him when he was giving attention to all the needs . Even before I asked him to distribute the gifts, he went around giving the gifts followed by an instruction -"Open it only once you reach back your home"

What had prompted me to pen these thoughts in here is the fact that how amazing these kids are nowadays. They are able to demonstrate the needs and understanding of the priorities of a situation and are willing to adapt so quickly without no complains, which i myself had failed to do many a times.

I learned lot from my son that day. He actually itched stimulation to my wisdom. The gamut of activities and experiences he had demonstrated on that day made me feel the importance of connections we make everyday.

Liana with her Godmother

"Our lives here are about what we are going to give. And not about the love we received but the love that we gave"

When our little angel got baptised as "Liana Susan Kuriakose "
The holy angels all rejoice
On your baptism day.
Our Father reaches out to you
With love that leads the way.

The Holy Spirit rests on you
And lives within your heart.
He'll walk with you down every path
And nevermore depart.
The Savior's arms are open wide,
Surrounding you with peace.
May all your days be filled with hope,
And may your joy increase.

Loving the presence of Pink!!

“The image of your eyes folded over me is a perfect present of "eternal love, promising life and cherishing hopes" when I took you in my arms on 18th of April 2006 ”

Its one of those blessed days of God’s heavenly presence and answers to our prayers. A wonderful day which was unexpectedly delightful. One of those best kinds, after our Levin’s arrival in our life.

I am just loving it….the lovely moments, where everything is pink around you and you don't know exactly why or how - but the moment chooses you for that delicious upswing of emotions in the midst of something very dear and special. I call it as Gift of Life.
